One of the questions we get asked often is: why start a martial arts gym in San Marcos, Texas?  

To answer that question you have to go back, way back, before Kaizen Jiu Jitsu existed, to the 1990s when Coach Sean was a student at Texas State University.  

During his time as a student in San Marcos Coach Sean made some of the most important and enduring friendships of his life. He studied martial arts at the university, where he met some of the folks who are now his current students, and generally enjoyed his time as a student here. 

Fast-forward to a few years ago and the opportunity came up for him to fulfill his dream of opening up a martial arts school, there was no question of where he wanted it to be located: San Marcos, Texas. 

Since opening the school in 2024, the school has grown tremendously, changed locations, and is currently located in downtown San Marcos. The school offers jiu-jitsu for adults, martial arts classes for kids, and Muay Thai options for adults or the whole family. Plus we have a special ladies only kickboxing class every Friday night. 

The city of San Marcos, Texas holds a very special place in the heart of coach Sean and his family and we are happy and proud to be a part of the community. We’ve been wanting to get here for a long time and we couldn’t have done it without all of our wonderful students and the support of their families.
